Everytime I have to deal with the bank, just how much they piss me off gets reaffirmed. Oh boy I so wish sometimes I could completely do without them. I've looked into it an found it's impossible. Bugger it. So I'm stuck with them. Just like I'm stuck with that odd lumpy thing on the back of my leg, but thats not what my rant today is about.
Anyways, today we went into the bank to get me a new EFT-POS card, because mine was completely worn out. Probably mostly from Gabba spending my money as fast as I can earn it. While we were in there, the chick (customer support person) did a small review of my accounts. I opened my account at Westpac probably 25 years ago, back when I started work at Kaiti New World in Gisborne. Then I changed the account to an Advantage Saver account when I started at the Education Department in Wellington. Today, I find that if I change the type of the account to their new Elite Account, I can save $30 a month in bank fees. WTF? The EFT-POS card remains the same, even my bank account number stays the same. Why didn't they just give me that discount without having to ask? Whats in a name? A rose is still a rose. Every time the bank gets a new Marketing Manager, they change all their account name, and you have to go sign a form to get what ever it is they are offering now, but it's all still the same.
On a some what related note, now Gabba is an official signatory to my bank accounts. We don't have a joint account. Gabba just uses my EFT-POS card whenever she likes and I randomly sign cheques (checks) to pay for various things for the kids teeth and health and pets and stuffed animals and all the other crap they so desperately need. But now that she is a signatory, it means my last hope for escaping the marriage is gone. I hung on to my own bank account so that I could scarper if I wanted to and she couldn't take all my cash. But now the last loophole has been closed.
As for the photo, it's some cool circles painted on the wall of the cool cafe we had a coffee in on Saturday. The place was a little too hip to have someone like me in there I think.
