The setting sun is incredible

On Saturday evening, Ali and I returned to Kawhia's Ocean Beach to get some sunset shots. We arrived about an hour before sunset, so I had time to scout about looking for the best shots in the dying light. Alice pranced about getting in the way, wanting to hold my hand, be in every shot, asking hundreds of questions and generally just being a 6 year old kid. I really enjoyed spending the time alone with Ali in such a beautiful place.

When the sun was about half way over the horizon I could look towards it through the lens. I only got this one photo as I actually just stood there and watched it disappear. Holy cow it went fast. I don't think I've ever watched the sun got down properly before. The speed with which it disappeared was incredible. It's a wonder it takes the whole day to get across the sky when it winks out so fast at the horizon. I couldn't explain it to Alice though. some things just don't fit into a 6 year olds brain!

Today Netconcepts went to Snow Planet for a couple of hours skiing. I hadn't skied since our honeymoon when we spent half a day on Coronet Peak. On the last run of the day, I fell over and wrenched my left thumb (which now hurts all the way up to my shoulder) and damaged my left leg. It's far too painful to walk now, so I'm hopping everywhere. I'm actually slightly concerned I've done something bad. I guess I'll wait until the morning and see what it's like then.

So Ma, I still haven't processed those photo's of the giblets yet as I can't carry the card reader up to the office to get them onto the PC. Suspence is good every now and then.
