I plan to be out of New Zealand in 2011. If I can help it, I'll be somewhere that doesn't give a rats arse about Rugby. America or Iceland or Andorra would all be good places to be I think. Even Iraq would be a better place to be. I'm betting by 2011 it'll be back under the control of a dictatorship and will be just as settled and safe as it once was.

If the announcement last week wasn't bad enough, the Sunday paper had 6 whole pages of analysis of how we won the hosting rights to the world cup. Jeez, most people I know couldn't give a flying fig about Rugby. New Zealand is going to be a miserable place for the next 6 years. There will be the bitching during the planning about how much money is being spent by the government. Then about how we are not prepared with not enough transport infrastructure or hotel beds. There will be the moaning when the corprate box holders will ahve to get ut of their boxes. There will be the people bitching the we are not clean enough and green enough (the green is the color green and not the Environmental stuff you dicks). There will be the analyses of the team and how we will never win it. And then during the event, it'll be 24 hours a day of fat, old illiterate ex-sports men on TV talking and talking and talking. Sport these days for your average New Zealander is more about the talk than the doing.

So hopefully I'll be posted to foreign shores during 2011 and can blissfully miss out on it all.

So what the title doesn't match the content of the post, it was too good an opportunity to pass up given the photo of 2 non-shagging shags on a tree down at the beach.

  • By the way, thanks for the title suggestion Rik. Oh yeah, and the '93 Providence.
