In the IT biz it's pretty easy to have friends.

Google is regularly my friend.

Man pages are my friends. Apologies to everyone that doesn't know what a man page. But it's got nothing to do with men or books or anything gay. If you want to know what a man page is, Google is your friend too.

Depending on the situation, rm -rf can be my friend to fix something for me. Although that usually fixes it for good.

But today I have found a new friend. Lomoize V2 is my best friend right now and what a powerful Potatoshop action it is. I got mine from Coda Co Za

As an aside, last week I got a look at Adobe's new app Lightroom. Oh man it's sweet. I'm not going to waste another minute trying to improve my Potatoshop skills. Lightroom just everything I need with a single click rather than having to learn 27 steps to do the same thing. I can't wait for it to be released. It's so good I'd even spend hard earned real cash on it too.

I'm sure Lightroom will be my friend too before the year is over.

  • Very interesting reading about Lightroom (especially in comparison to Aperture). I have trialled Aperture and it is pretty impressive, and also a contributing factor to my 'switch' later this month when my Macbook Pro arrives. I have been using ACDSee for the last couple of years on my PC as an assest management system, but it still feels like a consumer rather than professional app. The good news intially with Lightroom is that it appears to be a free beta until the end of the year.
