Why are home pregnancy test kits so girly?

Scott Chromaticus announced their pregnancy in a contemporary fashion by publishing a photo of their home test kit thing on his photoblog.

I looked at it and wondered why the hell it looks so girly, all lavender and curvy.

Sure, Mrs Chromaticus had to pee on it, but by my reckoning, so far Scott's done all the hard work. She was born with all the eggs she's ever going to have. He's had to brew up God only knows how many batches of little swimmers. And let me tell you women readers, it ain't as easy as it looks. You make a couple of million of anything you like and you'll know it's tough stuff.

And, it's going to be him brandishing the test kit results, showing all his mates what he's done proudly. "Look what I made" he'll be saying. Surely the test kit people could make it in a more manly shape and color so he feels better while he does it.

How about spanner (wrench for you medieval Americans) shape, or barbeque tongs shape.

None of that womanly lavender color too. How about chromed? Or bright nickel, or bronze.

Mate, home pregnancy kits, like other feminine products, are marketed to be girly (pink, lavendur and curvy) so as to embarass any males having to purchase them in a store. It is a perfect female marketing coup!

It's revenge for getting us pregnant in the first place, or making us stress and worry that we might be - hence we send the man to buy the girly product. - ps DAVE I'm blaming you for all of Mike's stuff he says to blame you for. I'm a follower, what can I say ;p
