Schumacher retires 3 laps before the end of the race

Tonight, as I sat down with a beer on the couch, remote control in hand, ready to press play to watch last night's F1 race, Gabba told me Schumacher retired 3 laps before the end of the race and that Button won.

Oh yeah. That hasn't ruined the race for me at all!

It actually was a bit of a shit weekend for motorsport. All in all it was a lot like unsatisfying sex. The promise was there but it just never sparked into greatness.

Saturday arvo, Rik and I decided to do a bit of male bonding by going up north a tad to watch a gravel sprint (it was up and back on that road in the middle of map), held by The Hibiscus Coast Motorsport Club. It rained solidly the whole time we were there. For 4 hours we stood out in the damn rain. It didn't let up once.

To top it off, the motorsport was very average. Only one driver was really committed. Only 12 cars turned up to compete. There was very little in the way of good viewing. And given there was only about half a dozen spectators, there wasn't anything interesting or amusing there either. And it rained.

The Photo
Don't listen to anyone that tries to tell you the camera doesn't take the photo's, the person behind it does. That's complete crap. Firstly it was raining cats and dogs, it was dark, we was in the forest and the cars were doing anywhere upwards over 100km/h. There was no fricken way I had lenses fast enough to get a decent photo. Of the 80 photo's I took, 2 (two) were sharp. I put the blame for that squarely on the camera. If I had a D2x and better/faster lenses, I would've kicked arse.

So given I got all my gear wet, and bits of me wet that really shouldn't get wet, you have to see one of those 2 photos tonight to make the trip partly worthwhile. I don't know who it is, or where he placed. And I wasn't hanging around to find out either.
