Last night on TV3 news the final feel good item was a fluff piece about how in Scotland 16 girls managed to fit into a phone box. I couldn't find anything about it to link to, but here is a small piece that announces the attempt.

In my opinion they're going about it all wrong.

If you really want to break that record and fit a lot of people into a phone box, you need to use dead bodies. Just imagine how many you could fit in if you didn't have to worry about the subject's breathing. It'd be no problem at all fitting body parts into all the little nooks and crannies.

I checked Sarah's Guinness Book of World Records (no link to their website, it is pure shit) and there is no rule around using live people for the record attempt.

On another subject, I had a nightmare last night that the RIAA was suing me for downloading music off the Internets.

They had brought a representative charge against me. The song they chose as the representative download was Islands in the Stream by Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers. Just imagine the world knowing you'd downloaded that piece of musical history!

I checked and I don't have the song anywhere on my hard drives, but I reckon I'd easily volunteer to be one of the dead bodies poked into a phone box if I did. The shame!

I was showing someone last week how cool off camera flash is. When I saw the photo I quite liked it. All I did was straighten it (I took it without looking through the viewfinder) and crop it. Tada!

  • I agree dead bodies would be the answer,I'll ask my friend a Funeral Director if he can spare a few bodies and we could have ago. I like the song Islands in the Stream,so I might have to join you in the phone box. Beautiful photo love the colors real Autumn shades. Now if this message comes up twice,I'll scream.

  • Funeral directors themselves are very interesting people - no I am not one myself, but also have a friend who is one, and he's a particularly funny guy - funny haha, not funny peculiar. TV one news showed the phone box stunt tonight... if I remember correctly they said the squashing of persons, alive at least, is no longer officially recognised buy Guiness. Perhaps your suggestion of corpses may bring the challenge to life again? Something funny peculiar I notice as I type this...Dave your posting says it went up 7:49pm Sunday April 1... My time - both computer and analogue - says 7:29... I think it's still sunday... just an observation thatsomeone as astute as yourself can no doubt explain?

  • I not only know a funeral director I have helped out in the morgue laying out the bodies. My friend always has a problem with the men's ties so I come in handy there too. It's all very interesting. My TV clock was up the shoot and I had a real problem setting it until I came out of having a senior moment and realized it was a 24 hour clock.

  • we knew a funeral director that made us laugh so much at a close relations funeral that the rest of the family thought we were all crying in sympathy. At the same funeral they hadn't dug the grave big enough for the coffin to fit so had to jump on it. Very hard to keep a straight face then

  • What a hoot! My friend and I went to pick up a deceased person up and getting into the morgue my friend dropped her end of the stretcher and away went the deceased across the floor. Friend ended up hysterical and I was horrified.
