The price of petrol is not high enough yet

The price of petrol is not high enough yet

I filled the tank on the car tonight on the way home. The orange light has been on for 2 days and the computer was telling me I had 1km left in the tank as I coasted into the gas station. The price was $1.59 a litre. Ha Ha. I last filled the tank the day before it went to $1.65 and only yesterday it dropped back below $1.60, so I missed the high price completely. Although I now have a new all time record of $90.47 for 56.94 litres of gas. That's the most I've ever paid to fill the tank in the 5.

On Sunday I tried to conserve fuel and I drove like an old crone with tachophobia in an Austin Maxi, that is lost, and can't bend her right foot any more than a little bit. I tried not to stop and did lots of coasting and very slow acceleration, and changed gear a lot and every other fuel saving ploy I know for the whole day. I managed to get the 5 to have an average fuel consumption for the whole day, around town, of 7.9 litres per 100kms according to it's on board computer. Not bad for a 3.5 litre engine I think.

But I still think gas could go up a chunk more yet. Surely one way of reducing the congestion is to keep driving the price of fuel up until all the poor people driving Japanese cars stay off the roads. I'm looking forward to the day that I can drive the 4 minutes to work and not get held up by people heading into town.
