As somebody somewhat famous once said, "he's fizzing at the bung". And I surely am.

This morning while playing with my toys I recalled my long forgotten Griffin Powermate that I bought about 3 years ago with an Amazon Gift Voucher (thanks Stephan). Not expecting anything spectacular to happen I plugged it into my new project and checked out dmesg. Bloody hell if Ubuntu didn't recognize the damn thing immediately and without fuss and without spending 3 days trying various drivers and without 4 hours in an apt-get frenzy.

The fact that it worked at all started to make me firm. So the next step was a trip out to the car to see if there was anywhere to place the sexy piece of aluminium and blue glowy goodness. Oh yeah baby, it was time for a full on chubby now. It fits perfectly under the hand brake lever where it nicely falls to hand (which is conveniently at the end of my arm).

I'll be able to code myself my own version of BMW's iDrive system* now.

I was so excited I spent a good chunk of the day writing code, even though it was way over 30 degrees C in my office.

*I would have linked to the BMW website so that you can see what the idrive is. But their site was so unbelievably shit that after clicking for a little bit, I left the site in disgust.

  • Apart from various stages of arousal, I have no idea what you are talking about...

  • Ok, I read it all again. Three times - and clicked on all the links. Now I have a vague idea. It's a cool picture too.

  • I'm reluctant to divulge exactly what my project is to too many people. Everyone I have told so far has laughed at me or looked at me in some pitying way as they reassess why they continue to associate with me. Hence it's just "my project".

  • Tena koe ehoa As a matter of courtesy felt impelled, in a kiwi manner, to make myself known to another kiwi. As is the tradition when abroad and you can't get more abroad than the net. Hook me up cuz, drop in, have a look and piss off and come back later. Till next we meet. "Darling, I'll say goodbye, even though I'm Blue, even though I'm Blue"....
