I compress the life of Ansel Adams into a single weekend

I read Ansel Adams Autobiography this weekend. It was a damn fine read. What an interesting life he led.

The book was perhaps a little disappointingly devoid of real insight into how he took his photos and processed them. I'd so love to know how much post-processing work he put into them and what exactly he did. It's clear from the book he spent huge time in the dark room.

On the other hand, I guess that's how he stays great and the rest of us wallow in his wake. Why the hell should he give up his secrets?

While out on our photo mission this afternoon, we couldn't find any Aspens suitably arranged. A stand of Radiata is hardly in the same ball park as Adams Aspens. But it'll do as the subject of tonight's post.
