You've been wondering where I've been right? We'll, I've been off at a "company thing" on Waiheke since Sunday. Lots of good good bonding and team building exercises.
But more importantly, back to our regular program of ponderings and photos.
Shaking hands with someone is a great way to measure them up. Are them clammy or weak or a boy (which is easy to tell if they go for the thumb shake instead of the hand shake) or just think they are stronger than you.
But then there is a whole other mine field just waiting for you. This morning a customer come in to meet with someone here in the office. I used to deal with him a lot so he wandered over to say g'day. He reached out to shake my hand. I wasn't concentrating enough and got one of my fingers trapped in an awkward position (don't ask me to explain it in more detail, it's visual so just except it was all wrong).
My whole focus suddenly turned on what to do about it. There was the risk of my finger might be snapped in the press just like a Hooker's neck when a scrum goes badly. That's a bad situation to be in, especially if the good strong grip was about to be employed.
Possible even worse though is going for the re-grasp to sort it all out. That might make me seem just a little too eager to hold his hand or just totally inept. Bloody hell I hate those social situations!
The Photo
After a night of way too much Single Malt Scotch, I couldn't sleep, so was up early and down at Palm Beach for a walk. I instantly regretted it as I was very thirsty, and in no condition for walking on the beach. 15 crap photos where attempted. But this one is acceptable to me under the circumstances.
