An unsightly bulge in my trousers

I don't normally carry cash around with me much. It's been a very long time since I had any real currency in my pocket. EFTPOS is all I ever need.

But America seems to have a love affair with the $1 note. Oh and the 1 cent piece. I have a huge wodge of cash to carry around now because every time I pay for something, I get a handful of $1 notes and pennies back.

The Photo

From the Rubado School of Photography, a shot of the $38 in $1 notes that can no longer comfortably live in my pocket.

  • you're more likely to tip if they give you bunch o $1 bills. ;)

  • Nice DOF! Very well done...I see that the Rubado School of Photography has paid off. As for tipping...I had no problem getting used the fact that I don't have to tip anymore now that I'm in NZ. But, I have noticed little tip jars appearing everywhere lately and I'm not sure how much longer I can hold out before I crack under the pressure to tip.

  • Dean, you are right. Tipping. Thankfully so far I haven't been anywhere where a tip was required.

  • great capture, dave! you're currently in my stomping grounds, btw! what's the occassion? you haven't been sharing with us and frankly, i'm hurt. hey, while you're in madison, check out my favorite restaurants! tex tubb's taco palace over on atwood. (the owner's from austin, i believe.) and flap top grill at the north end of midvale. it's a chain restaurant, but the options there are unlimited. will you be here for halloween on state street? it's always riot-tastic! welcome and enjoy your stay!

  • G'day from Oz. Nice capture. I was travelling in the States earlier this year and since I've come back I've noticed more tipping jars back home. I find I'm happy to throw change at places I really like but I'm just as happy to ignore jars everywhere else. In fact, I think I'm happier tipping when I know I don't have to!
