Every now and then I put my pants on 2 legs at a time just to further prove I'm not like everyone else.

This morning was one of those mornings.

Fear me!

I don't know how many bottles of wine I've opened over the last 35 years, but it's got to be in the hundreds, easily. Surely

In all that time I've broken/crumbled/split the cork plenty of times. That comes with aged/cellared wine.

But the last 2 bottles I've opened I've chipped the glass on the top of the bottle with the wine knife while levering the cork. A thing that I never recall doing ever before.

Have I lost an important technique or is wine bottle glass now just soft.

While clearing out my fathers stuff (he died about 4 weeks ago, if you are playing along) I found some ammunition in his attic.

Just in the attic. In some old biscuit tins. More than 100 rounds but fewer than 200, I'm guessing.

So I called the police, not knowing what to do with it.

They asked me what sort of ammunition it was. I have no idea what the hell sort of ammunition it was and my answer of "I don't know, the scary kind" probably didn't help much.

They are coming to get it.
